Despite the fact that at present it is not known exactly how carbohydrates can affect the skin, numerous studies have shown that limiting carbohydrate intake can significantly reduce the number of acne. It should also be noted that some of the diseases associated with acne (such as poly cystic ovary syndrome in women), respond well to diet. In connection with this diet in this case not only helps solve the problem of the underlying disease, but also can solve the related problem of acne no more.

Some studies of biologically active substances (including animal hormones and iodine), which are contained in milk and other dairy products may increase the likelihood of acne. However, these data are insufficient to recommend the exclusion of dairy products as a treatment for acne.
